Jerusalem, 7 April, 2021 (TPS) — TPS, Israel’s news agency, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation and news exchange with WAM, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) official news agency.
WAM distributes news to over 100 media outlets in the UAE and dozens more around the world. As part of the partnership, WAM launched a Hebrew news site, its 19th language. https://www.wam.ae/he.
For TPS, this is the 6th national news agency partnership, with other collaborations with news agencies in Spain, Romania, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and North Macedonia. News agency partnerships include news exchange and joint journalistic projects. In addition, TPS distributes journalistic materials to dozens of media outlets that subscribe to its service – in Israel and around the world.
Amotz Eyal, CEO of TPS, stated that he is “excited and honored to announce the partnership agreement between the WAM and TPS news agencies. This agreement is another important step in building the connection between our nations, a connection that will be built on accurate and trustworthy news directly from the source.”
“I am sure that the mutual exchange of information, working side by side, and the access to news and features will promote our two countries’ economic, tourist, and cultural connections,” Eyal added.
Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi, Director General of WAM, stated that “this agreement translates the desire of WAM to strengthen professional cooperation ties with news agencies around the world in areas of news exchange. It comes to ensure a wider reach for WAM’s coverage and ultimately presents the UAE’s achievements and cherished values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence to the largest possible number of world peoples.”
“The agreement is a win-win partnership for both sides that will reflect positively on ensuring a wider reach for the two agencies’ coverage services,” Alrayssi underscored.
TPS News Agency was founded in 2010, and has since become a significant player in the international arena. The news agency, a non-profit, was established on a unique model that incorporates citizen journalism, with its 300 volunteers who are on the scene all over Israel, with a professional editorial and reporting staff that ensure that all TPS coverage meets the highest standards of accuracy, providing a top-notch product to its customers and partners that rely on its coverage.
